About Me In real life I'm Alli, a student currently majoring in secondary education: history with a minor in medieval studies. Yay! Random facts - I'm a triplet, I'm on cast at MIRF, and a member of the IWG. At fest I'm Lady Kathryn Blakeley, a maid of honour to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth. Call me Kat/Kate/Katie - I will respond to any of them. (Kate is what everyone usually calls me, but then Queenie called me Katie during the last season and then at BARF she called me Kat which threw me off because she never called me Kat. *shrug*) I'm just lookin for true love, not some 70 year old noble with no teeth. Ewww.

Music Soundtracks (instrumental mostly), rock, country, celtic, some pop. Basically anything but rap, hip-hop, and emo bands. Band to check out - Great Big Sea. They're from Newfoundland.

My latest project with you all! Very Happy

So I've been wanting to make an effigy corset for what seems like FOREVER and I think I've finally gathered up the guts to actually make one! (Having the Tudor Tailor helps too )

At first I thought that maybe I'd make it out of linen because well, most people I've seen (and know) use it and it'd be slightly cheaper to make than if I used, say, silk! But I really wanted to make it out of silk.

So I was browsing the interwebs and I found THIS!

Just put some green binding on and what do I have?

A WATERMELON CORSET!! *gigglesnort*

I've got the silk ordered and linen for the lining. I'm looking for just the right green color for the binding. I'll post pics with updates! Very Happy

Just need to not mess it up! *hopes not to jinx self*

Ok so I've figured out that I am probably not going to have enough fabric to make sleeves out of my forepart fabric. So I was wandering around the interwebs looking at fabric when I came across this website.

And looking at the fabric I started to think of maybe if I found a red silk that sorta matched my forepart color I could use that instead. But then I saw THIS!!!!

IT IS GORGEOUS! I decided immediately that I had to have some. At least for a caul (cuz I'm making myself a new hat this year and my snood kinda died...) But then Jeni gave me an idea. What if I used the slate blue velveteen I used for the "guards" of my bodice and overskirt for sleeves and then slashed or pinked to show the lining of that sexy silk?

So list of things to do when I get back from Israel for fest

- Hat

- Caul

- Sleeves

- New Purse

- Maybe garb for the sisters :)
